Proration

Not everyone registers on day one. With Proration, Offstreet automatically adjusts permit pricing based on the time remaining in a permit term or event, making it easy to offer fair pricing without creating separate permit options or pricing schedules.

No spreadsheets. No manual calculations. Just pricing that updates automatically.

How Proration Works

Proration can be calculated using one of three methods:

  • Daily – Based on the remaining days in the permit term
  • Weekly – Based on the remaining weeks (Monday - Sunday) in the permit term
  • Monthly – Based on the remaining calendar months in the permit term
Ex. A permit runs from January 1 through December 31.
If a parker registers on September 1, Offstreet can automatically reduce the price based on the portion of the permit term that remains.

Proration is currently available for:

  • Permit Types
  • Events

How to setup Proration

Proration can be set by enabled the toggle when editing the pricing in the Parking Settings

  1. Click Edit Pricing
  2. Set your pricing amount
  3. Click the Proration Toggle
  4. Set the Proration Type and get a glimpse of different proration scenarios by moving the preview slider
Note: Proration requires fixed start and end dates.

What Parkers See

When purchasing a prorated permit, parkers can view:

  • The original permit price
  • The prorated adjustment
  • The final amount charged
  • Their permit validity dates

This helps provide transparency around how the final price was calculated.

Reporting

Prorated permits appear in reporting using two values:

FieldDescription
Parking RateThe original permit price before proration
Invoice TotalThe final amount charged after the prorated adjustment

This allows teams to see both the full permit value and the amount the parker actually paid.

Ex.

Parking RateInvoice Total
$600$400

In this example, the permit's configured price is $600, but the parker only paid $400 because they purchased partway through the permit term.

FAQs

Can I choose how proration is calculated?

Yes. Daily, Weekly, and Monthly proration options are available.

How are weeks calculated?

Weekly proration uses calendar weeks running Monday through Sunday.

Does proration work with flexible start dates?

No. Proration requires fixed start and end dates to calculate the remaining value of a permit term.

Why does the Parking Rate differ from the Invoice Total?

The Parking Rate reflects the permit's full configured price. The Invoice Total reflects the actual amount charged after any prorated adjustments have been applied.

Not currently. Proration only applies to permit purchases.

Is proration available for Events?
