Choosing a Permit Type Setup
Choose how permits behave—whether access is fixed, scheduled, or flexible for the user.
Quick Guide
- Specific Date(s) → Best for events or fixed schedules
- Date Range(s) → Best for longer access (days, weeks, months)
- Flexible Time → Best for user-driven or short-term parking
How Each Option Works
Specific Date(s)
Best for: Events, bookings, or predefined access windows
- You create one or more specific dates
- Each date can include one or multiple time intervals (e.g. 8am–12pm, 1pm–5pm)
- Users cannot change these times
User experience: Users select from predefined date options, or proceed directly if only one exists
Date Range(s)
Best for: Continuous access (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly permits)
- You define a start and end date (and time)
- The permit is valid across that full range
- Optional rules like “never expires” or scheduled times can be applied
User experience: Users typically don’t choose dates—the range is already defined
Flexible Time
Best for: Transient or on-demand parking
- You define rules (e.g. allowed days, duration limits, time windows)
- Users choose their own start and/or end times within those rules
- The system ensures all selections are valid
User experience: Users actively choose when their parking starts and ends
Common Use Cases
Events
- Game days, concerts, or one-time bookings → Specific Date(s)
Long-Term Access
- Employee or monthly permits → Date Range(s)
Short-Term / Visitor Parking
- Hourly or flexible parking → Flexible Time
FAQs
Which option should I choose?
- Use Specific Dates for fixed schedules (like events), Date Range for continuous access, and Flexible Time when users need control.
Can users change dates?
- Only with Flexible Time. Specific Dates and Date Ranges are controlled by the system.
Why don’t I see certain options in the portal?
- The portal only shows what the Permit Type requires. If something isn’t configured, it won’t appear for the user.
