Lookup Links / Portal Links

Portal Links allow you to share Permit Types with users so they can create permits through the Offstreet portal.

By enabling a Permit Type in the portal and generating a link, you control who can access it, which tenant it applies to, and which locations are available.

Step 1: Enable a Permit Type in the Portal

To use Portal Links, the Permit Type must be enabled in the portal.

When enabled:

  • A global link is automatically available
  • Additional link options may be available based on your configuration

Available Link Types

Portal links are not manually selected—they are generated based on how the Permit Type is set up.

Global Link

Every Permit Type enabled in the portal includes a global link.

  • Not tied to a specific tenant
  • Works across all locations assigned to the Permit Type

? Use this when:

  • The Permit Type should be broadly accessible
  • Users are not restricted to a specific tenant

Tenant Links

Tenant links are available when tenants are configured on the Permit Type.

  • Scoped to a specific tenant
  • Can be enabled during the Tenant step when creating or editing a Permit Type
  • Can also be created from the Lookup Links page

Tenant links can be configured to:

  • Use a fixed location (if only one is available)
  • Allow users to select a location (if multiple locations are available)

? Use this when:

  • Permits should be created under a specific tenant
  • You want to control which tenant the permit belongs to

Location Links

Location links are created separately from Permit Types.

  • Created from the Lookup Links tab on a Location or Company page
  • Require a Permit Type that is assigned to the selected location
  • Tenant association is optional

? Use this when:

  • Access should be limited to a specific location
  • You want to control where permits are created

How It Works

Each portal link defines what the user can (or must) select when creating a permit:

  • Permit Type → Always defined
  • Tenant → May be fixed (tenant link) or optional (global/location link)
  • Location → May be fixed or selectable depending on configuration

Examples: When to Use Each Link

1. Open access across locations (Global Link)

Scenario:

  • You offer visitor parking across multiple locations, and anyone can register
  • No tenant required
  • Multiple locations available

? Use the global link

2. Tenant-specific permits (Tenant Link)

Scenario:

  • A company (e.g., McDonald’s) needs to create permits for their employees
  • Tenant is fixed
  • Location may be fixed or selectable

? Use a tenant link with no location

3. Tenant + single location

Scenario:

  • A tenant operates at one location and should only create permits there
  • Tenant is fixed
  • Location is fixed

? Use a tenant link with a single location

4. Tenant + multiple locations

Scenario:

  • A tenant operates across multiple locations and can choose where the permit applies
  • Tenant is fixed
  • User selects location

? Use a tenant link with location selection enabled

5. Location-specific access (no tenant)

Scenario:

  • A single parking location offers permits not tied to a tenant
  • Location is fixed
  • No tenant required

? Use a location link or global link

6. Location + optional tenant

Scenario:

  • Permits are for a specific location but may optionally be associated with a tenant
  • Location is fixed
  • Tenant optional

? Use a location link with tenant selection

7. Permit Type with location only

Scenario:

  • A Permit Type is only valid at one location and does not require tenant assignment

? Use a global or location link

8. Permit Type with tenant + location

Scenario:

  • A Permit Type is restricted to a tenant and a specific location

Use a tenant link (location locked)

Summary

  • Enabling a Permit Type in the portal automatically provides a global link
  • Tenant links are optional and configured on the Permit Type or via Lookup Links
  • Location links are created separately through Lookup Links
