Using Additional Instructions in Offstreet
We've expanded Offstreet's instruction functionality to support communication at key moments in the parker journey: before purchase, after purchase, and before expiry. This enhancement gives teams greater control over when and how information is communicated to parkers.
Instructions can be configured for Events, Locations, and Tenants, and are displayed both in the portal and through automated email communications.
Instruction types
Pre-purchase instructions
Displayed in the portal before the parker selects or purchases a permit. Useful for communicating important details like event info, location access, or pricing.
Post-purchase instructions
Shown immediately after purchase in the confirmation screen, and included in both the confirmation email and the reminder email (sent 24 hours before permit start).
Expiry reminder instructions
Sent by email 15 minutes before the permit expires. Only sent to parkers who have opted in to reminder emails.
Where instructions appear
Pre-purchase
Displayed in the portal before checkout.
Post-purchase
Shown on the confirmation screen, and included in the confirmation and reminder emails.
Expiry reminder
Sent by email 15 minutes before permit expiry, if the parker has opted in.
Editing instructions
- Go to the Events, Locations, or Tenants section in your dashboard.
- Open the item you want to edit.
- Locate the instruction fields:
- Pre-purchase instructions
- Post-purchase instructions
- Expiry reminder instructions
- Enter the relevant content in each field and save.
You can customize these fields independently for each entity.
Migration of existing instructions
Today, your dashboard only contains one instruction field per Event, Location, or Tenant. With the release of this enhancement:
- The previous single instruction field now populates both Pre-purchase and Post-purchase instructions.
- The Expiry reminder field is blank by default. You can fill this in to begin using expiry reminders.
This ensures no disruption to your current user experience.
